Dart Music International Directors

The members of the Dart Music International Board of Directors and Advisory Board of Directors have a wide range of skills and expertise. The Board members have years of outstanding experience with international relations and business, music industry and festivals, and community-based organizations. Additionally, as a matter of policy, each of the Board members has made a personal financial contribution to the organization.

Board of Directors

Director - Pamela Burton
A former executive and industry leader in the broadband and telecommunications area with companies like Showtime Networks, Pam has 20 years experience in branding, marketing, advertising and event production. She has held numerous executive board positions throughout her career from National Board Directors, Women in Cable Telecommunications, to past President of Texas for marketing professionals, along with several non-profit entities over the years. Her passion is her community and along with her husband, daughter and son she dedicates many hours enriching the lives of others.

Founder and Executive Director - Dave Dart
Dave has been engaged in various aspects of the music business for more than twenty years, including stints at Sundance Records, co-crewchief of the SXSW Music Conference and Festival International Housing Program, assistant on a special project for the Texas Rockfest/Quadruple Bypass Music Festival, and producer of events such as the 2006 Elktoberfest and the annual International Night at Friends on Sixth Street. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Beyond Persia and a member of the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy as well as Austin Music People. Dave earned a Master's Degree in International Relations from Boston University, studying exclusively at their campuses in Germany and Belgium, and a Bachelor's Degree from Texas State University in San Marcos. He previously worked as a Systems Analyst at the University of Texas, Communications Director for the Overseas Education Association in Germany, College Instructor for Big Bend Community College, and Astronaut Trainer for the United States Space Academy.

Director - Dr. Madeline Maxwell
Dr. Maxwell is Professor of Communication Studies and Director of the Project on Conflict Resolution at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Arizona and completed her dissertation research at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Maxwell studied literature and languages at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania after graduating from high school in Houston. She studied abroad in Mexico and Switzerland during her college years. In addition to teaching at The University of Texas, Dr. Maxwell has taught at the University of Arizona and Pennsylvania State University in the US, Monterrey Tec Graduate School of Business in Mexico and the University of Goiania in Brazil, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She has been a Distinguished Visiting International Scholar at the University of Gothenberg, in Sweden and the University of Nordland, Norway and taught conflict resolution in Australia. She frequently presents her research in the US and around the world, including Costa Rica, Japan, Spain, France, England, Singapore and Australia. She has served as a consultant to the US Secretary of Education, as well as to local government agencies in Colorado, Rhode Island and Texas and agencies that serve such public servants as school board members, telecommunications providers and county courthouse staff. She is also an experienced professional mediator and mediator trainer and has mediated hundreds of hours of cases involving business, employment, family, government and intercultural issues. Dr. Maxwell was a long-time board member and President of the Board of the Dispute Resolution Center of Travis County.

Dr. Maxwell has won awards for both research and teaching. She has been awarded grants for research and has published five scholarly books and monographs and more than 75 journal research articles. She has studied, for example, the effect of different metaphors on the progress of hostile disputes, the power of the first three minutes of a mediation session, the subtle language that reveals interpersonal evaluations, the power of non-verbal communication, and the management of citizen communication with the city council.

Dr. Maxwell teaches courses in conflict resolution and interpersonal communication. She is Chair of the UT Graduate Portfolio on Dispute Resolution and Chair of the Undergraduate Bridging Disciplines Program in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies. She is a member of the Steering Panel for the Undergraduate Program in Ethics and Leadership. She is a member of the Faculty Committee on Minority Recruitment and Retention and the Minority Liaison Officer for her department. She is the Director of the UT Project on Conflict Resolution, including the Willie Nelson Center Students and the student Society of Professional Mediators. These organizations provide mediation and conflict resolution services to the community, including dialogues on ethical challenges in the news; engage in research on ethical peace and conflict resolution; provide executive education and training; and organize the UT Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Summer Symposium for High School Students and Teachers every summer.

Director - Mark McCrimmon
Mark is a criminal lawyer in Austin with over 25 years' legal experience.  Shortly after graduating from the University of Texas Law School in 1983 he began working with the Travis County Attorney's Office and the District Attorney's Office.  His familiarity with prosecutors, judges, attorneys, and the unique court process specific to Central Texas makes him one of the regions most successful lawyers.  In addition to his many professional affiliations in the legal profession, Mark is also actively involved in the Austin music and disc golf communities.  He is a founding Board member of  the Waterloo DGC and is an internationally ranked doubles player.  Mark and his wife Lisa are avid international travelers who frequently visit destinations all over the world.

Director - Michael S. Renner
For over a decade, Michael has been involved in multiple aspects of the music industry.  A touring drummer & piano player originally from Indianapolis, he ran audio/video post-production companies in Nashville & Memphis, and currently serves as owner of Bad Pictures of Good People, LLC, an Austin-based film soundtrack production house.   With more than 12 years of experience in the securities industry, Michael hopes to make good use of in-depth finance, investment and sales knowledge for the benefit of DMI.

Director - Howard Yancy
Howard is a Principal at Zydeco Development in Austin. Prior to his involvement in real estate and development, He was a tax attorney with one of the region's most respected law firms. Since 1991, Howard has devoted all his energy to real estate. Howard has earned a L.L.M in Taxation with honors from New York University School of Law, J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law, and a B.B.A., magna cum laude, from Texas A&M University. Among his professional affiliations, he is a Member of the State Bar of Texas, a Certified Public Accountant in Texas, Member of the Urban Land Institute, Member of the Real Estate Council of Austin, Member of the Commercial Leasing Brokers Association, and Member of the American, Texas, and Travis County Bar Associations.

Director - In Churl Yo
In Churl is president and creative director of Yo! Media, Inc., an award-winning Austin-based custom publishing company. He received a degree in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin before beginning his publishing career at Texas Monthly magazine. Since then, he has been an art director, editorial director and director of publishing for Interline Adventures magazine and Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine and counts the Austin Film Society, Kendra Scott Jewelry, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Vital Farms and the Promotional Products Association of America among his various design and publishing partnerships. Though not a musician, he does own a bass guitar, and considers the privileges of meeting Lee Renaldo and attending Vic Chestnutt's final performance as some of his personal musical highlights.
