El Naranjo
Paula's Texas Spirits
Chilean Indie-rockers
Intimate Stranger performed an "ambient" set out on
the back porch (weather permitting). We welcomed them and our other very special guests from the bands
AV Okubo,
Casino,
The Ganjas,
L.Stadt, and
P.K.14 on their first night in Austin.
All the bands then headed downtown at 9:00 for shows at the
Dart Music International Welcome Party at the
Dart Music International House at Mi Casa and
Plutopia/Fringecore Night at Emo's.
Refreshments and cocktails were generously provided by
Edible Austin.
El Naranjo, which opened the following night, offered a sneak preview tasting:
Molotes Oaxaquenos, (masa torpedoes stuffed with home made oaxacan pork chorizo and potatoes)
Molotes veracruzanos (masa and plantain dough stuffed with cheese & black beans)
Tamales
Paula Angerstein of
Paula's Texas Spirits mixed up unique Texas cocktails.
"With front lady Woodgate singing and on bass, Lautaro Vera on guitar, Mauricio Muñoz rocking the drums and Ismael Palma pouring over the
keyboard, Intimate Stranger is a complete and talented team ready to intoxicate any listener. Somewhere between the rock and female vocals of the
Kills and the inviting voice of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Intimate Stranger tends to break barriers when it comes to labeling them with a genre."
- Derek Lactaoen, Revolver
From: Santiago, Chile
Genre: Indie, Alternative
Touchstones: The Sundays, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Pretenders
